About The Festival of Diversity

The Festival of Diversity promotes and celebrates cultural diversity and community cohesion in the Oldham Borough, developing and encouraging the involvement of the community in the production of an annual Festival of Diversity.

The events that form the annual Festival showcase are organised by local groups, additional enhancement projects activity is facilitated by the Festival Steering Group.

The development, programming and promotion of the annual showcase is co-ordinated by the Festival Steering Group. The steering group is formed from people committed to providing community cultural opprtunities and celebrating the Borough's diversity.

The Festival is seeing a year-on-year growth in participation from people across the Borough with annual involvement expected to reach 25,000 in 2008.

The Festival of Diversity Aims:

Invites people to come together through their involvement in community cultural events.

Supports the development of existing and new community cultural events.

Provides an annual showcase for community cultural events across the whole of the Borough.

Provides a positive image of the Borough's diversity.

Celebrates the involvement of residents in the development of a sustainable cultural events resource.

Contributes to the strategic cultural priorities of the Borough.

Provides opportunities for partnership and volunteering in the Borough.
