Join In Volunteer - Community Culture Volunteers 08

The Festival of Diversity steering group is currently working on an exciting new volunteering initiative to make sure that people benefit from all the volunteering opportunities that are presented by community event activity.

This is a current outline of what is being developed.

There will be two kinds of volunteering opportunity:

Support Volunteers

Support volunteers might be involved in:

Setting up community event sites.

Operating as information ambassadors for Oldham Borough events; Making sure that the general public know what's going on and where.

Supporting the stewarding of processional activity.

Supporting the evaluation of event participants and finding out what people think about the event.

Volunteers will be required to attend an induction in advance of the Summer event activity. At the induction volunteers will meet community event leaders and other volunteers and develop and understanding of all the required elements of what being an event volunteer means;

Health and safety, assessing risk at events, understanding stewarding on public highways and working with the public. All volunteer contribution will be accredited to ensure the maximum benefit to you the volunteer

Lead Volunteers

Lead volunteers might be involved in:

Promoting the Festival of Diversity.

Supporting/ community event leads.

Administrating elements of festival activity.

Leading groups of support volunteers.

Volunteers will have a greater involvement in the Festival of Diversity. How it operates and how it is steered and will have a particular interest in building their community development skills.
